Visual Disturbance & Eye Problems

The term “visual disturbances” can mean anything that hampers your normal vision. Visual disturbances can be caused by a variety of illnesses and disorders. Some are transient and can be alleviated with therapy. Some, on the other hand, can be permanent.

Visual disturbances occur often and are frequently misdiagnosed as various other conditions. When you discover a problem with your sight, it is important to receive specialist advice to give an accurate diagnosis.

At FaceRestoration, we understand the range of symptoms and frustration caused by visual disturbances and aim to treat you as soon as possible.

There are many types of visual disturbance, and sometimes these are caused by other medical conditions. FaceRestoration works to give you a correct diagnosis and bespoke treatment plan for any visual disturbance. The most common ones we see are:

  • Double vision, or diplopia
  • Partial or total blindness
  • Colour blindness
  • Blurred vision
  • Halos
  • Discomfort

What is Diplopia?

Diplopia is frequently referred to as double vision. Diplopia occurs when you see two items where there is just one. This visual disruption might be a sign of a more serious health concern. It is critical to consult your doctor as soon as symptoms appear.

Does high blood pressure cause visual disturbances?

High blood pressure, if left untreated, can damage the retina, which receives the images we need to see at the back of the eye. Symptoms can include double or dim vision, loss of vision, and headaches.

Do autoimmune conditions affect the eye?

Several autoimmune disorders affect the eye and may cause visual disturbance, including:

  • Behcet disease
  • Lupus
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Psoriasis
  • Reiter’s syndrome
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
  • Sjogren’s Syndrome
