EYE SURGICAL TREATMENT

Abscess Drainage

Periorbital oedema is the phrase used to describe swelling around the eyes. The eye socket or eye orbit refers to the region surrounding the eyes. This is also known as periorbital puffiness or swollen eyes and is sometimes caused by an infection or abscess.

At FaceRestoration, we understand the discomfort and potential embarrassment an abscess may cause and can provide comfortable abscess drainage surgery to alleviate your symptoms.

WHY FACE RESTORATION?

FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS

At FaceRestoration, you will be treated by two specialists who will provide a “built-in second opinion” in order to leave no stone uncovered. As part of your post-operative management, you’ll have access to both surgeons through WhatsApp for questions and post-operative guidance.

Where possible, we aim to complete a same-day excisions and abscess drainage at our luxury London clinics.

What is the surgical procedure for abscess drainage?

Abscess drainage is performed at our clinic and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. A local anaesthetic is injected into the eyelid for comfort and a small incision is made to release pus and fluid build-up. No stitches are usually required.

Is abscess drainage uncomfortable?

The local anaesthetic stings at first, but after that, all you will feel is slight stretch and pressure, not pain. During the first 24 hours following surgery, there may be a dull ache that is easily remedied with over-the-counter medication like paracetamol.

What is the recovery time from abscess drainage?

Abscess drainage surgery recoveries differ from patient to patient as well as the size of the abscess. Redness and swelling will be most noticeable in the first 3-4 days and then gradually subside over a few weeks.
