EYE, SKIN & FACIAL NON-SURGICAL TREATMENT

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy

Using high intensity pulses of visible light, intense pulsed light (IPL) is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment for improving appearance problems.

Thanks to pulse technology, IPL is a safe, gentle treatment that produces less heat, allowing safe usage around the eye area. Non-ablative resurfacing refers to the use of IPL that targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layer of skin (epidermis). Because intense pulsed light (IPL) is so gentle, this treatment is also effective in treating symptoms of dry eye.

FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS

The combination of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy and innovations such as Optilight mean that we can treat sensitive areas of skin – such as the eye area – without the risk of damage that is associated with ablation methods.

Is fast yet safe and gentle, meaning it is an effective skin treatment with little to no downtime for your comfort and convenience without compromising on results.

Which conditions can be treated with IPL?

The advantage of IPL over ablative methods is its safe usage. We frequently use IPL for the following conditions:

  • Age Spots,Pigmentation & Sun damage
  • Eyelash loss & Short Eyelashes
  • Rosacea, Acne & Acne Scars
  • Sagging Skin, & Crepey Skin
  • Scars
  • Twitching and Blepharospasm (dye eye symptoms)
  • Dry Eye & Blepharitis
  • Eyelash loss
  • Periocular skin cancer

How does IPL help my dry eyes?

Over 80% of dry eye symptoms can be attributed to some kind of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Meibomian glands are located along the edge of the eyelids, where the eyelashes are located. Oil from these glands is an important lubricating component of the tears in our eyes. IPL helps meibomian gland dysfunction by treating and reducing inflammation without damaging the eye or surrounding skin.

How safe is intense pulsed light?

Treatment with intense pulse light is safer than laser treatment. In contrast to laser treatments, where only one wavelength of light is released at the skin, IPL treatments release multiple wavelengths of light. Thus, it is capable of penetrating deep into the skin without causing any harm.
