EYE SURGICAL TREATMENT

Mohs surgery

Mohs surgery is widely regarded as the most effective treatment method for many basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), the two most frequent kinds of skin cancer. The treatment, also known as Mohs micrographic surgery, is performed in phases, including lab testing while the patient waits. This enables the removal of all malignant cells, resulting in the maximum cure percentage while sparing good tissue and leaving the shortest scar feasible.

WHY FACE RESTORATION?

FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS

At FaceRestoration, we understand the concern that comes with the discovery of an abnormal mole or lesion and we aim to treat you as soon as possible. We are able to offer a wide range of treatments, from medical grade skincare to same-day surgeries, for peace of mind and increased prognosis. Our award-winning ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeons will safely take care of everything from consultation and diagnosis to treatment and post-op care.

At FaceRestoration, you will be treated by two specialists who will provide a “built-in second opinion” in order to leave no stone uncovered. As part of your post-operative management, you’ll have access to both surgeons through WhatsApp for questions and post-operative guidance.

Where possible, we aim to complete a same-day assessment alongside a biopsy and removal of any lesions that are cause for concern. Same-day (or next day) treatments increase chances of good prognosis in serious conditions and increase peace of mind.

What is Mohs Surgery?

The procedure of Mohs surgery involves removing a visible lesion from the skin in several steps. The first step is to remove a thin layer of cancerous tissue. The second thin layer of tissue is then removed and viewed under a microscope to look for cancer cells. The layers are removed one by one until no cancer is visible under the microscope. The goal is to remove as little normal tissue as possible.

Is Mohs surgery painful?

Local anaesthesia is used in Mohs surgery, so that only the area being worked on is numbed. There may be some discomfort when the anaesthesia is injected, but it usually only lasts a few seconds. The surgery itself should not be painful once the area has been numbed.

How successful is Mohs surgery?

Mohs surgery has been refined into a highly precise, advanced method of treating skin cancer, yielding a success rate of 99 percent. With Mohs surgery, all surgical margins are examined, compared with less than 5 percent with traditional techniques.
