EYE SURGICAL TREATMENT

Punctoplasty, canaliculoplasty & stent placement

If you are living with symptoms of wet and watery eyes, it might indicate a problem with your canaliculus or punctum. The canaliculus are short drainage channels in the inner corner of the eye and the punctum is the small opening for tears to drain into these channels. Punctoplasty, Canaliculoplasty & Stent Placement may offer a solution depending on which part of the drainage system is not working efficiently.

At FaceRestoration, we understand the discomfort and embarrassment caused by wet and watery eye and aim to treat you as soon as possible. Our award-winning ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeons will safely take care of everything from consultation and diagnosis to treatment and post-op care.

WHY FACE RESTORATION?

FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS

When treating any tear duct dysfunction, it is important to get a clear picture so that we can manage your treatment as effectively as possible. At FaceRestoration, we have diagnostic imaging facilities available so that you can get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

A computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is helpful in locating inflammation and enlargement of soft tissue and muscles.

At FaceRestoration, you can expect to see two ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeons who will consult you throughout your time under our care. Having two consultants means an in-built second opinion when diagnosing and planning treatments, as well as increased capacity during your post-operative care.

What is a Canaliculoplasty?

It involves the removal of excess canalicular tissue and placement of a stent, which provides an ideal technique for reconstructing canaliculus without injury to punctum or drainage opening.

What is a Punctoplasty?

The purpose of Punctoplasty is to restore proper tear drainage. An excess of tears may drain out of one or both eyes when the lacrimal punctum (the opening of the tear duct) becomes blocked or narrowed.

Will a need an overnight stay?

We try to avoid overnight stays where possible. You will be treated as a day case, under general or local anaesthesia depending on your procedure and you will be able to return home the same day.
