DETAILS ABOUT THE TREATMENT

WHY DO I NEED TO SEE A SPECIALIST FOR LASH SERUM ADVICE?

Most serums contain hidden ingredients that can have ocular and eyelid side effects. A full ocular examination is advised to ensure the use of lash serum is appropriate.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR LASHES TO GROW?

This can vary from person to person but will usually take around 6 weeks

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF LASH SERUM?

Some serums contain an ingredient used to treat glaucoma, prostanoid or prostaglandin analog. This can result in darkening of the skin, the iris of the eye, loss of fat around the eye socket and inflammation of the eyelid margin

DO LASH SERUMS NEED TO BE PRESCRIBED?

No these can be obtained from our Consultants, please contact us for more information

How long should I use Topical Lash Serum?

The treatment time depends on your individual circumstances. As part of your comprehensive consultation, we will look to diagnose the cause of lash loss, and we aim to give an estimate of treatment duration before you start treatment.

What causes lash loss?

Numerous factors can cause lash loss and this will determine whether topical lash serum is the correct treatment. We’ve listed some common causes of lash loos below:

  • Genetic diseases such as cryptophthalmos and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
  • Excessive rubbing of the eyes.
  • The use of heat products.
  • Allergic reactions to eye products.
  • Age-related thinning.
  • Medical conditions such as Blepharitis, thyroid disorders, alopecia, inflammatory diseases, and skin cancer.
  • Common cancer treatments such as chemotherapy.

How long does it take for eyelashes to grow back?

Your eyelashes will grow back depending on the cause of lash loss. As with the hair on top of your head, eyelash hair grows, falls out, and re-grows in about 4-16 weeks.

There are, however, a few caveats. Eyelashes sometimes don’t grow back if there is damage or trauma to hair follicles. It is also possible for lashes to grow back differently from those they used to be, especially after chemotherapy or medical conditions.

The good news is that most of the time, eyelashes do grow back. Unfortunately, the regrowth process can take up to 16 weeks. Just like the hair on your scalp, eyelashes grow in a three-phase cycle; anagen phase, catagen phase, telogen phase. You can read more about lash loss in our condition page.
