DETAILS ABOUT THE TREATMENT
WHAT AREAS OF FAT CAN BE DISSOLVED?
The most common area requested is below the chin (submental fat), but this treatment can be used for other areas.
WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?
Fat dissolving causes breakdown of the fat cells and inflammation. There can be significant swelling and pain for 2 weeks.
WILL I SEE RESULTS STRAIGHT AWAY?
No, the results will not be apparent for at least 6 weeks, once swelling has resolved.
CAN THE TREATMENT BE COMBINED WITH FILLER?
Yes, filler treatments can be performed at the same session but are avoided in the same area.
Why Face Restoration?
FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS
The face and chin can be a hotspot for stubborn fat cells that resist exercise and nutrition. Furthermore, as part of the natural ageing process, the subcutaneous fat pads beneath the cheek skin might migrate downward, creating drooping skin around the jawline. Fat-dissolving injections in the cheek and jaw area can substantially slim the face and change the facial profile. These injections can be used in conjunction with dermal fillers to remodel the face.
How do fat-dissolving injections work?
Deoxycholic acid – which is present in fat-dissolving injections and in the body – has the ability to target and dissolve pockets of resistant fat. The acid dissolves the fatty cell’s plasma membrane and outer wall. This exposes the fatty acid inside, which may subsequently be broken down, removed, and digested by the lymphatic system. The remainder of the cell can then be broken down and discarded. Once a fat cell is eliminated, it will not regenerate; therefore, the benefits remain with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Are the results immediate?
This therapy does take some patience; most patients report a noticeable change after six weeks, with repeated sessions boosting the overall result even more.
Are there any major side effects?
This treatment’s adverse effects are minor and normally self-resolving. In fact, the body’s inflammatory response is critical to the efficacy of this treatment. As a result, minor oedema (swelling) is to be expected. Swelling usually goes away after 48 hours, and an ice pack is advised to help ease discomfort.
Up to 50% of individuals report numbness in the injection site; this disappears on its own but can linger for up to 30 days.
The majority of patients report warmth and reddening in the treatment region. This typically resolves itself within 24 hours.
Around 30% of patients report a hardening of the treatment region that can persist for up to two months.
