EYE SURGICAL TREATMENT

Double eyelid surgery / Asian eyelid surgery

Nearly fifty percent of patients of Asian descent are born with no natural upper eyelid crease (often referred to as “single” eyelids). This can cause the lashes to sag into the visual axis (known as “lash ptosis”). Occasionally, the eyelids are droopy or have ptosis, causing a tired appearance.

What is Double eyelid surgery/Asian eyelid surgery?

Double eyelid surgery, sometimes known as “Asian blepharoplasty,” involves the formation of an eyelid crease, resulting in a bigger and more symmetric, almond-shaped eye. The distance between your upper lash line and the new eyelid crease is tailored to your preferences and current anatomy.

How does the process work?

An upper lid crease is created by performing double eyelid surgery, which creates the appearance of a “wide awake” appearance. Fat and excess skin are removed if they contribute to a “puffy” appearance.

Are there any risks or side effects with treatment?

The risks of double eyelid surgery are no different from those of any other surgical procedure. Before undergoing double eyelid surgery, you should be aware of the following risks and complications and we will discuss these at your consultation:

  • An asymmetrical crease.
  • Bleeding after the procedure, ranging from mild bleeding under the eye causing bruising to haemorrhaging.
  • An orbital bleeding can result in pressure on the optic nerve, resulting in a surgical emergency called a retrobulbar hematoma.
  • Drooping eyelids.
  • Creases that are too high.
  • Fading eyelid folds.
